Six Cats Under is a short pixel-art point-and-click puzzle game that runs straight in the browser on itch.io. You play the ghost of a grandmother who passed away unexpectedly and is now trapped in her own apartment; her one wish is to get her six cats safely out. This walkthrough follows the real in-game order and splits the whole run into 7 steps, each one with a screenshot — follow along and you will finish the game.

What is the goal?
Get all six cats out of the apartment through the front door. You never control a cat directly — you click objects around the rooms to trigger events that make the cats move, and the run ends when the last cat crosses the threshold. The apartment is small, so the whole game is one connected chain of interactions rather than separate levels.
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Genre | Pixel-art, single-player point-and-click puzzle |
| Platform | Playable directly in the browser on itch.io |
| Fail states | None - no death mechanic and no time limit |
| Win condition | All six cats leave through the front door |
| Retry rule | Repeat any interaction as often as you need |
| Story | A grandmother dies unexpectedly, her soul is trapped in the apartment, and her wish is to rescue her six cats |
The game tracks exactly one thing, and a full bar means you are done:
Note: the front door actually unlocks as early as the toilet flush in step 1 — but that is not the win, because Frederick still refuses to leave the top of the fridge.
Which six cats have to get out?
Six cats leave the apartment, and only three of them carry puzzle steps in this guide: Geoffrey, the black cat, drives almost every puzzle; Spoc knocks down the TV remote; and Frederick, the fat cat on top of the fridge, is the hardest to wake. The other three — Pumpkin, Baroness and Mr.Spock — take no part in the puzzles and simply walk out once the door is open.
| Cat | Known detail | Puzzle role |
|---|---|---|
| Geoffrey | Pixel-style solid black cat, small white eyes, pink nose, lying-down pose | Core of almost every puzzle in the apartment |
| Spoc | Pixel-style pure white cat, thin black eyes, small pink nose, slender body, standing beside the armchair next to the sofa | Claws the sofa and knocks the TV remote to the floor |
| Pumpkin | Pixel-style pale off-white cat, dark square-shaped eyes, small dark muzzle, squatting on the living room bookshelf | No puzzle interaction, only exits at the end |
| Baroness | Pixel-style orange tabby cat with dark thin facial markings, pale orange inner ears, sitting upright on the bedroom bed | No puzzle interaction, only exits at the end |
| Mr.Spock | Pixel-style light brown tabby cat, small dark round eyes, stretched horizontal body, resting on top of the bathroom door frame | No puzzle interaction, only exits at the end |
| Frederick | Pixel-style chubby brown and white patched cat, resting on top of the fridge | Hardest to wake - needs the smell of fried fish |
Step 1: How do you wake Geoffrey the black cat?
- Click the wall clock so it rings — Geoffrey wakes up.

- Flush the toilet: the sound keeps attracting the black cat, so Geoffrey moves wherever you need him. The front door actually unlocks after this, but Frederick still refuses to leave.

- Click the toilet paper, then flush again — Geoffrey bats the toilet paper, which triggers the chain that follows.

Step 2: How do you let the flies in and knock over the yarn basket?
- Click the window to open it and let the flies into the room.

- Turn on the table lamp — a fly lands on the light.

- Geoffrey leaps at the fly on the lamp, knocks the yarn basket over and spills the yarn across the floor — you need it in step 4.
Step 3: How do you get the TV remote?
- Click the shelf fan and turn it toward the houseplant.

- Plug it in and switch it on: the moving leaves attract Spoc behind the chair, who claws the sofa and digs the remote out of the cushions.

- Pick up the remote (it looks like a small wooden block) and turn on the TV.

Step 4: The cake channel and the yarn ball
- Use the remote to flip the TV to the cake baking channel.

- Click the spilled yarn ball on the floor — Geoffrey goes down to play with it.

Step 5: The sink puzzle (the high-frequency stall point!)
- Click the pink mouse toy on the counter — it squeaks and frightens Geoffrey.

- Click the hanging bird towel — Geoffrey brushes it into the sink.

- Use the remote to flip the TV to the lion roaring channel.

- Click the pink mouse toy again.

- Open the faucet and fill the sink with water — by now Geoffrey has jumped up onto the kitchen counter, so both actions in step 6 need him beside the tank.

What is the towel step for?
Sweeping the towel into the sink lays the conditions for the later trigger: together with the lion channel and the full sink, it walks Geoffrey over to the fish tank on the kitchen counter — the position the goldfish step needs.
Step 6: How do you unlock the fish food and feed the goldfish?
- Click the heart ornament hanging from the ceiling — it falls onto the fish-food bag and unlocks it.

- Make sure Geoffrey is standing beside the fish tank (so step 5 must be done first), then click the fish food to feed the goldfish.

Step 7: Fry the fish and blow the smell to Frederick (the final chain)
- Open the stove and heat the pan — the goldfish drops into the pan and fries, and the smell starts spreading through the kitchen.

- Adjust the fan again so it aims at the top of the fridge and switch it on: the smell drifts up to Frederick.

- Frederick smells the fried fish and jumps down from the fridge — all six cats are gathered, they walk out the front door together, and the game is complete!
Why will not the cats leave the apartment?
| What you see | Why it happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The goldfish never drops into the pan | Geoffrey is not standing beside the tank | Finish the sink puzzle in step 5 so he climbs the counter, then feed him and open the stove |
| The door is unlocked but the run does not end | Frederick is still asleep on the fridge | Fry the goldfish, aim the fan at the fridge top, switch it on |
Anything else worth knowing before you start?
Nothing is one-shot: there is no death and no clock, so if a click does nothing, click everything else in a different order. The usual loop is try an interaction, watch which cat reacts, and repeat it somewhere else — the toilet flush and the fan are the two tools you reuse across half the puzzles. For everything beyond this single run, the rest of the site has you covered: guides holds the longer walkthroughs, hints has per-puzzle nudges if you want to stay unstuck, and FAQ answers the account-wide questions.
